Making women visible

It is a choice to leave out the voices and actions of women of the past. This choice is the result of a process and mechanisms participating in the invisibility of women. This process needs to be analysed, understood and explained. It is also important to analyse the process of making women visible. We have seen this process happening in different aspects of our society the last few years.

In bookshelves, we see books popping up about the role of women at specific moments of time, and places. Other cultural objects, such as museum exhibits, have also the same goal of contributing to the visibility of women that came before us. School programs are also updated, giving space for the stories of women and for introducing their contributions in the broader history of humanity.
